We took Sara to the doctor on the 7th for her 6 month checkup. Her stats were as follows:
Weight: 11 lb 10 oz (0%)
Height: 25 3/4 in (41 %)
Head Circ: 16 1/2 in (26%)
As you can see she still was not on the charts and her weight had even dropped some percentage wise from what it was. The doctor said she wasn't getting enough calories and it is affecting her brain development because her head circumference is not what it should be for her height. He suggested to put an extra scoop of formula into the bottles and to make sure she got at least six every day. We started this that day and have made sure to wake her up and feed her again before we go to bed to make sure she gets the 6 bottles. We took her in today to have her weighed and see how she's doing. She weighed in at a whopping 14 lb. 9 oz. YEAH!!! I am so excited! I could tell she had gained some weight but wasn't sure exactly how much. She definitely looks chubbier to me. I'll try to post some pictures soon so everyone can see. :) Also, at her 6 mo. checkup the doctor said her feet are curving a little around the arch area so they make kind of a "C" shape. He suggested stretching them several times a day to try and straighten that some. If it doesn't work he said they may need to put braces on her to stretch that out before she starts walking. We'll see what happens there.
Rachel has now lost three teeth and her permanent teeth look like they are coming in with some overlapping so we took her to the dentist today to see what they would say. They did an X-ray which showed one tooth, that's halfway in, is crooked, and another tooth that is getting ready to break through the gums a little in front of it. He is hoping that when this tooth comes in it will straighten the other one. If not then a few years from now they may need to do something to fix it before all the teeth start coming in. He did say though that Rachel has a petite mouth and not much space for the teeth to come in and will probably need braces in the long run. Joy, joy... ;}
On another note. The girls both had soccer games today and actually touched the ball. Kaylee stopped to balls when she was goalie and her team won 1 - 0. (We also caught her doing the "Macarana" while waiting for the ball to come to her.) Rachel kicked the ball several times and her team tied 1 - 1.

Easter 2009
We had the family (including Heather's sister Michele on her way home from college) over for Easter festivities on Saturday this year. We started off the afternoon with a Honeybaked Ham, funeral potatoes (without the funeral), and mom's rolls made with wheat flour. Yummy!
Colin and Sara got along better than in previous encounters...
Then the Easter Bunny came...
... and left eggs throughout the downstairs. Kirsta had better pictures of the egg placements...
... Nate, still needing a sugar fix had to get into the action...
... and you can't ignore the look of surprise on dad's face when he woke up from his cat nap to find he'd been egged...
... and Scott with his typical teenage blank look...
... The girls checking out their loot...
... with Rachel surprised that she got a package of gum...
... and Sara just couldn't wait to open her bath toys...
After everyone left we colored Easter eggs.
And finally, Easter Sunday in new church clothes.
Happy Easter!

Recipe Friday
I got this recipe from my neighbor and it's great. I've always liked foil dinners but this saves the hassle of trying to make several individual ones.
Family Foil Dinner
1/2 pkg onion soup mix
1 lb ground beef
season salt
1 egg
shredded cheddar cheese
2 - 4 potatoes, sliced into sticks about the size of fries
baby carrots (or sliced carrots)
1 onion, sliced into rings
garlic powder
onion powder
4 - 6 T butter
Preheat oven to 400. Layer a 9x 13 pan with foil. (Use several layers to keep it from leaking the juices out.) In mixing bowl beat egg. Add ground beef, season salt, onion soup mix, and cheese (I use about 1 C cheese). Shape beef mixture into patties and place in 9x13 pan. On top of patties layer potatoes, carrots, and onion rings. Shake garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper over the top. Cut butter into cubes and scatter around on the top. Put foil over the top and fold the edges together so the food is in a foil pocket. Bake for 1 - 1 1/2 hours.
