During school Rachel's class had a week where they talked about family history and traditions. One of their assignments was to bring in a recipe that was part of a family tradition. They compiled all the recipes into a book for each student to decorate and send home. This was one of the recipes from that book. It came from one of the student's grandmothers. We LOVE it!!!
Banana Pudding
8 oz cream cheese
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 small boxes vanilla pudding
3 - 4 medium bananas, sliced
1 box vanilla wafers
12 oz. Cool Whip
3 1/2 - 4 C milk
Mix cream cheese and sweetened milk until smooth. Add pudding and milk. Slowly fold in Cool Whip. In a glass bowl layer cookies, pudding, and bananas.

Sara's getting chubby!!!! (pictures to prove it) by Heather
These are really overdue, but here are the pictures I promised. She looks like a chunk to me now, but maybe it's just because I was so used to the skinny little girl she was.
This picture is after a few weeks of the extra formula in the bottles, and trying to squeeze in 6 bottles a day.

This picture is before all the extra calories the doctor said she needed.

It's not as noticeable to me in the pictures, but hopefully you can see the difference.

Kaylee Soccer
Kaylee warmed up to soccer a little faster than her sister. She also enjoyed playing goalie and made some pretty good saves. Don't get me wrong, she was scored on, just not as frequently.
One thing about Kaylee was her attention span. If she was playing defense she lost track of what was going on. We caught her doing the Macarena dance among other things in her down time.
Kaylee's team did pretty well, and they had a coach who knew what he was doing. She says she wants to play again next year. We'll see what happens because Bryant will be included in the mix...

Rachel Soccer
Rachel's soccer season was, let's say, interesting. She was pretty timid at first and all she wanted to do was play goalie. She wasn't very good at that - she was scored on the first two times the other team had a chance.
I wasn't too fond of Rachel's coach as he barely seemed to know the game and basically acted as a game monitor rather than a coach. Rubbed me the wrong way a couple of times...
In the end, Rachel liked playing and got after the ball a few times (despite what some of the family saw). Here are some pictures of Rachel chasing the ball on a good day.

Peach Blossoms
Alright, now that there's some extra time on a long weekend, I'm doing a few posts to get caught up. This first one takes us back to April 20. Our trees were in bloom with a nice, sunny day. I found one of the bees responsible for helping with our peaches this year.
Of course by now all of the leaves are there and we have the starting of fruits growing...

Recipe Friday
(I know it's been a while since we've posted. I hurt my arm rollerblading and haven't been able to use my right hand for much of anything for two weeks. I'm getting to where I can use it more, but typing is not very easy yet. Here's a recipe that is super easy and doesn't take a whole lot of typing. I'm trying to convince Caleb to post something tomorrow. If he doesn't I'll at least post some pictures next week.)
Easy Parmesan Garlic Chicken
1/2 C Parmesan Cheese
1 pkg dry Italian salad dressing mix
6 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Mix cheese, garlic powder and salad dressing mix. Moisten chicken with water(I skip this step); coat with cheese mixture. Place in shallow baking dish. Bake at 400 for 20-25 min. or until chicken is cooked through.

Sara's getting chubby!!!!
We took Sara to the doctor on the 7th for her 6 month checkup. Her stats were as follows:
Weight: 11 lb 10 oz (0%)
Height: 25 3/4 in (41 %)
Head Circ: 16 1/2 in (26%)
As you can see she still was not on the charts and her weight had even dropped some percentage wise from what it was. The doctor said she wasn't getting enough calories and it is affecting her brain development because her head circumference is not what it should be for her height. He suggested to put an extra scoop of formula into the bottles and to make sure she got at least six every day. We started this that day and have made sure to wake her up and feed her again before we go to bed to make sure she gets the 6 bottles. We took her in today to have her weighed and see how she's doing. She weighed in at a whopping 14 lb. 9 oz. YEAH!!! I am so excited! I could tell she had gained some weight but wasn't sure exactly how much. She definitely looks chubbier to me. I'll try to post some pictures soon so everyone can see. :) Also, at her 6 mo. checkup the doctor said her feet are curving a little around the arch area so they make kind of a "C" shape. He suggested stretching them several times a day to try and straighten that some. If it doesn't work he said they may need to put braces on her to stretch that out before she starts walking. We'll see what happens there.
Rachel has now lost three teeth and her permanent teeth look like they are coming in with some overlapping so we took her to the dentist today to see what they would say. They did an X-ray which showed one tooth, that's halfway in, is crooked, and another tooth that is getting ready to break through the gums a little in front of it. He is hoping that when this tooth comes in it will straighten the other one. If not then a few years from now they may need to do something to fix it before all the teeth start coming in. He did say though that Rachel has a petite mouth and not much space for the teeth to come in and will probably need braces in the long run. Joy, joy... ;}
On another note. The girls both had soccer games today and actually touched the ball. Kaylee stopped to balls when she was goalie and her team won 1 - 0. (We also caught her doing the "Macarana" while waiting for the ball to come to her.) Rachel kicked the ball several times and her team tied 1 - 1.
