One Week

We got a visit on Friday from Nate, Kirsta, and Colin. A few pics from that visit.

Sara's hands are always active while she's awake. Mostly up by her face. Here's one of her grabbing the pacifier, about to pull it out and scream.

Hmm, pacifier or hands, I can't decide so I'll do both.


Bryant decided Sara was okay and decided he wanted to hold her. It only took him a week!

Sara comes home (and other tidbits)

So Monday was interesting. Sara slept a good part of the night, which was good. Heather, on the other hand, kept waking up because she was too hot. We got through about 5:30 when Heather had to call the nurse to help her - that's when I woke up - at least for a little while. I grabbed Sara and watched a little TV. I dozed off and woke up to the doctor taking her away for her morning checkup.

Not long after the checkup we got a call from Kirsta letting us know that Bryant got sick at her house. I packed up and went home to take care of Bry and stayed there until after the kids left for school today (Bry was fine by the end of the day). We brought Sara home a little after 2pm today.

"I don't know why you had to change my clothes - I was all warm and cozy and now look, you've messed up my hair!"

Here are the much anticipated pictures.

Sara was born at 2:17pm today, September 21, 2008.
7 lbs 8 oz
20 inches long

Heather makes this look easy. She only had to push three times. The first push got the baby almost out. Dr. Porter told her not to cough or sneeze after her first push because she was really ready to come out. Second push delivered the head, and the final push got the shoulder allowing her to come right out.

Sara has a lot of hair at the moment. Lots of CURLY brown hair. The curls come from her mom.

New Silvey baby expected on...

Sunday, September 21

We found out today that Heather is scheduled to be induced on Sunday, September 21 at 7am if baby hasn't arrived before then. She was 70% effaced and still 2-3 dilated at her appointment today.

Baby Ticker

While we try to be accurate with the baby ticker, we can never account for early delivery. Heather had a checkup today with Dr. Porter. She's about 50% effaced and 2-3 dilated. We found out that Dr. Porter is going out of town on Tuesday, Sept 23 for about a week. He suggested that we will probably induce before his trip (if the baby doesn't come on her own). At this point it sounds like we'll maybe go in on Sunday, September 21 - we'll keep you all posted. Just pray it doesn't come before Saturday - I'm in Texas next week from Monday until late Friday night.

In other news, the next time you come to our house we will probably have some decorative curbing completed. I was talking to my neighbor who wanted to get some curbing installed before he puts in his sod. Once this was decided, I spent the last two evenings cutting back my sod the way that I wanted (I love my edger attachment) and prepping a couple of areas where we'll have it done. The guys came out to do the work earlier today, but wouldn't you know it - RAIN - just as they were getting set to go. Fortunately they hadn't started mixing the quickrete. They should be back in the morning, weather permitting. I'll post pics when it's all done.

Peaches

Last year after we moved into our house we decided to plant a couple of trees. We planted a sunburst maple in the front and a Gleason (Lemon) Alberta peach tree in the back. We were surprised to find that the peach tree, although quite young and small decided to give fruit this year. From what I understand this is not typical for the first year after planting. We probably had around 30-40 fruits in the beginning, which I thinned down to about 20-25 earlier in the season.

A couple weeks ago we had some kids over playing who found the peach tree (and obviously didn't know better) , picked the green fruits and threw them down on our concrete patio breaking them into little pieces. Here's a picture of what remained on the tree which we picked this week.
